What People Are Saying

“No other teacher has had a greater impact

on his growth as a tap dancer and person than she has.”

”LoRee has been my son's teacher, choreographer and mentor for nearly 10 years. No other dance teacher has had a greater impact on his growth as a tap dancer and person than she has. She both nurtured and challenged him, growing a shy beginner into a confident and skilled tap dance artist. LoRee choreographed 8 solos and 5 duo/trios for my son, each one pushing his technical ability and performance quality. In his final year as a competitive dancer, their work together resulted in a perfect scoring solo. I have the greatest respect for LoRee as a teacher, but one of the things I admire most is her commitment to being a student as well, demonstrating to her students that there is always more to learn. If you are looking for someone who will meet your dancer where they are and take their skills to the next level and beyond, look no further!

“She implements a philosophy

where you will learn to appreciate and better understand the art of dancing.”

I have had the privilege of being able to bring LoRee into my studio to work with several of my dancers. From the moment you first meet LoRee, you know that she really loves dance. Her approach to teaching goes beyond just showing you how to move. She implements a philosophy where you will learn to appreciate and better understand the art of dancing.

A great dance teacher like LoRee knows and remembers what it’s like to be a student. She has developed and mastered the skills she is passing on to you and yet, doesn’t stop there. She is not content to rest on her knowledge. The best dance teachers breathe dance in and out like oxygen. Dance is not the only thing in LoRee’s life, but it is safe to say she immerses herself in dance and is compelled to share this fascination with others.

“LoRee is a creative powerhouse.”

“LoRee has been teaching my daughter tap since she was 9 years old. Over the last 6 years, my daughter has performed a tap solo each year as well as group and productions numbers choreographed and rehearsed by LoRee. Not only has my daughter's tap technique progressed beyond what I ever expected, LoRee is also a creative powerhouse. Her concepts, choreography and staging are unique and engaging. The combination of the level of tap her students can achieve with the artistic quality of her numbers is what makes LoRee the best. She is also an excellent mentor coaching kids how to be their best on and off stage.”

“LoRee teaches more than just dance,

she teaches the WHOLE child.”

"She gets it." is the sentence that best describes LoRee Kenagy.  From the moment we met Ms. LoRee, I knew she she would be the one to take my daughter places in her dancing that she has never been and or never been given the opportunity to go. Ms. LoRee teaches more than just dance; she teaches the WHOLE child. I know this first hand from many hours of observing her teach both in the private and public setting. Not only is Ms. LoRee a phenomenal tap teacher with an infectious smile and personality, but her emotional intelligence is on a level that I've rarely ever seen. She gets it! She notices how the child's mood and needs influence their learning. She's aware of the tired child in the back of the class that loses focus and is able to redirect them by encouraging specific behaviors and modeling appropriate responses. She sees the child with the lost look in their eyes, stops what she is doing and delivers the instruction in a different format tailored to that individual child's specific learning needs. She gets it!  She is able to connect with and teach children that would have been otherwise lost in the shuffle such as my daughter who is severely dyslexic and can not read, spell, or do simple math problems despite the many years of her participating in several specialized instructional programs from all over the country by the best of the best providers. Against all odds, Ms. LoRee has taught my daughter things we were told she'd never learn such as the meaning of numbers, how to quickly count forwards and backwards without making mistakes, understanding number sequencing, and using number patterns all through the form of music and dance. I am so happy we found Ms. LoRee and even happier that my daughter gets to make her dancing journey with a teacher that gets it.
